"Cancer Comrades" is the brainchild of a woman who was diagnosed with the very rare and aggressive form of Cervical Cancer.  Small Cell Carcinoma of the Uterine Cervix or Small Cell Cervical Cancer, has a very poor prognosis and because of this, Melanie found herself feeling alone and isolated, despite the love and support of her friends and family.  She had no one who had been through what she had and no one that could encourage her to keep fighting and beat the odds by example, to help her realize she may come out the other side "cancer free'.  Melanie felt that no one understood her situation and found herself bottling up so many emotions.  By chance she found another woman on a message board who had the same cancer ,was surviving even longer than Melanie and was also cancer free, (Colleen). This gave Melanie hope.  She contacted Colleen through the message board and crossed her fingers she would reply.  Colleen did.  She was just as happy and in just as much need to find someone who had "been there, done that".  The two struck up a friendship and found the comfort and understanding they had been seeking.  This is when "Cancer Comrades" was born.

Melanie and Colleen hope to streamline the process for others in the "same boat", to find each other and bring everyone together.  Remember; You are not alone.  Ever!
